Registrations open for the TFG-TFM MONDRAGON Sariak 2025 Awards
The TFG-TFM MONDRAGON Sariak 2025 Awards have opened their call to recognize the best final degree and master’s degree projects that address the challenges of the 21st century. This fourth edition seeks to highlight projects that promote an innovative, sustainable and people-centered transformation.
In a context of accelerated transformation, MONDRAGON is committed to innovation, sustainability and people-based development as fundamental axes to build the future. Through these awards, we seek to value young talent and their ability to provide solutions to current challenges.
Award categories
In this edition, the awards have five main categories in which participants can enter their works:
- Danobatgroup Award for Digital Transformation.
- MONDRAGON Award for People-Based Transformation.
- Fagor Taldea Award for Energy-Climate Transformation.
- MONDRAGON HEALTH Award for the Transformation of health and care.
- Laboral Kutxa Award for Transforming Finance to Transform Society.
In addition, three extra prizes will be awarded, worth 2.500€ each:
- Ikerlan Award for the most innovative project.
- Eika Award for the best project in Basque.
- Mundukide Award for the project with the greatest social impact.
The TFG-TFM MONDRAGON Sariak 2025 Awards have a total of 13 cash prizes, with a total prize of 26.250 €. Each of the five main categories will grant:
- First prize: 2,500 euros
- Second prize: 1,250 euros
Requirements to participate
Those people who meet the following requirements may register for the awards:
- Be over 18 years old.
- Have submitted the TFG or TFM between October 1, 2024 and September 30, 2025.
- Have obtained a minimum grade of 8 out of 10.
- The job must be related to one of the five main categories.

The TFG-TFM MONDRAGON Sariak 2024 awards celebrates young talent and innovation at Inpaktuday
The 3rd edition of the TFG-TFM MONDRAGON Sariak 2024 awards has been a complete success! This year we have broken records: 305 works presented from 57 universities and 52 finalists sharing their ideas and talent in an incredible day.
The Soraluce Factory Portal was the perfect place for a day that started with visits to the Laboral Kutxa, Orbea and Fagor Arrasate cooperatives. The finalists not only learned about the MONDRAGON cooperative model, but also participated in very interesting group dynamics with representatives from Fagor Taldea, Orbea, Laboral Kutxa, Eika, Ikerlan, DanobatGroup and MONDRAGON.
In the afternoon came the most exciting moment: the awards ceremony, where 10 exceptional projects were recognized in key areas such as digital transformation, sustainability, mobility and social innovation.

From the Danobatgroup prize for digital change:
- 1. saria: Mario Sanz Guerrero. Peak Attention U-Net: Attention-Enhanced ECG Delineation Model for Peak Detection (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid).
- 2. saria: Enrique Queipo de Llano Burgos, Marius Ciurcau eta Alejandro Paz Olalla. Inteligencia Artificial Explicable para el reconocimiento de fracturas de cadera (Universidad Complutense de Madrid).
From the MONDRAGON prize for Transformation based on people:
- 1. saria: Natale Armendariz. The inclusive everyday essentials | Sex toy design for people with motor disabilities affecting the upper limbs (Mondragon Unibertsitatea).
- 2. saria: Marta Vicente Navarro. Desarrollo de una herramienta basada en lenguaje de apoyo a la terapia basada en reminiscencia (Universidad Complutense de Madrid).
From the Fagor Taldea prize for energy-climate change:
- 1. saria: Ane Elizetxea Navarro. PEM elektrolizatzaileen degradazio eta hibridazio azterketa: hidrogeno berdearen sorkuntza itsasoko energia bidez (Mondragon Unibertsitatea).
- 2. saria: Juan Pedrero Alegría. Diseño de soluciones de flexibilidad para escenarios de alta electrificación urbana (Universidad Internacional de La Rioja).
From the Orbea prize for healthy, sustainable mobility:
- 1. saria: Iñigo Azcárate Urrutia. Mode Choice Modeling for Sustainable Regional Commuting using Machine Learning: A Case Study in Gipuzkoa, Spain (Universidad de Navarra).
- 2. saria: Mercè Amich Vidal. Clean vehicle ownership: implications for effective policy interventions (Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea -UPV/EHU-).
From the Laboral Kutxa prize for changing finance to change society:
- 1. saria: José Antonio Luque Salguero. Optimización global de modelos de Media-Varianza-Sostenibilidad multiagencia para gestión de carteras (Universidad de Málaga).
- 2. saria: Maria Jose Preciado Leyva. Una aportación a la sostenibilidad social del seguro de salud en España. Seguro de asistencia sanitaria con reservas de envejecimiento (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid).

IKERLAN LIDERA FRACTAL, UN PROYECTO INTERNACIONAL PIONERO, QUE PERMITIRÁ EL ‘AUTODIAGNÓSTICO’ A LAS MÁQUINAS GRACIAS A LA IA
FRACTAL es un proyecto capaz de dotar a las máquinas de inteligencia y de capacidades cognitivas, en sectores como la energía, el transporte y la industria.
Promovido y liderado por IKERLAN, es un proyecto que pretende crear una solución de digitalización basada en inteligencia artificial, de modo que las máquinas sean capaces de ‘autodiagnosticarse’, adaptándose al entorno, prediciendo errores y resolviéndolos antes de que se produzcan. Para ello, desarrollará una solución hardware y software, que dotará de inteligencia y capacidades cognitivas a las máquinas, aplicable a sectores como la energía, el transporte o la industria.
FRACTAL cuenta con un presupuesto de 15,7 millones de euros para tres años, aportados por la Comisión Europea y el Ministerio de Industria, Comercio y Turismo a través del programa ECSEL. IKERLAN, centro tecnológico líder en soluciones de inteligencia artificial aplicada a las necesidades de la industria vasca, impulsó y lidera este proyecto, en el que participan un total de 28 entidades de siete países europeos (España, Francia, Suiza, Alemania, Finlandia, Austria e Italia), entre empresas, universidades y centros tecnológicos de referencia en el ámbito de la digitalización y la inteligencia artificial. Entre ellas se encuentran empresas estatales como ZYLK, LKS, CAF Signalling, Prointec, Solver, BSC o la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia.

FRACTAL: Inteligencia Artificial para autodiagnóstico y adaptación
El objetivo de FRACTAL se basa en crear una solución de digitalización basada en inteligencia artificial, de modo que las máquinas sean capaces de ‘autodiagnosticarse’, adaptándose al entorno, prediciendo errores y resolviéndolos antes de que se produzcan. Para ello, se desarrollará una solución hardware y software, que dotará de inteligencia y capacidades cognitivas a las máquinas, aplicable a sectores como la energía, el transporte o la industria.
Desde IKERLAN, además de coordinar el proyecto, colaboran en el diseño y desarrollo hardware, lideran la parte de las capacidades de securización de la solución, lideran e implantarán la plataforma de inteligencia artificial donde van a ejecutarse los desarrollos y participan en la implementación de los modelos predictivos necesarios para cada caso de uso. Por último, también trabajarán en la parte de edge computing y de comunicaciones 5G.
