MONDRAGON HEALTH Award for the Transformation of Health and Care:
Health, socio-sanitary care and biotechnology.
At MONDRAGON Health, our goal is to boost people’s overall well-being through innovation and inter-cooperation. Health and care are undergoing an unprecedented revolution with social, demographic and technological changes that challenge public services and the society as a whole. At MONDRAGON we want health and care to also become an important economic growth and quality employment driver.
Possible themes
We must innovate to care for a growing number of patients without overburdening our healthcare systems. We need more precise and selective treatments that guarantee effective, safe, quality, scalable and accessible care for all.
The WHO reports that, for the first time in history, the majority of the population has a life expectancy of 60 years or more. By 2050, the world population in this age group is expected to reach 2 billion. These people will be cared for mainly in their homes, but also in specialized social and healthcare centers. Projects in the field of service improvement, both at home and in centers or residences, are becoming increasingly important.
Technology is transforming the sector with the introduction of remote assistance, sensors, wearable devices, health apps and advanced medical devices that improves access to healthcare services and efficiency in care, especially with digitization. AI and real-time data analytics can anticipate problems, personalize and improve care or treatment adherence, but they also require a commitment to transparency and responsible use of data.
