FATECO Project: Improvement of the fatigue performance of automotive components through innovative ecofriendly finishing operations

FATECO project is led by Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa (MGEP) and its main objective is to improve the fatigue and tribology performance of key automotive components.

The importance of this project lies in improving the surface integrity (SI) of these components, which will contribute to reducing the probability of failures and, consequently, fatal accidents related to the failure of parts in vehicles.

In addition, the project uses innovative approaches, such as the development of a machine learning system based on neural networks that will predict the behavior of components, eliminating the need for costly and lengthy tests.

One of FATECO‘s most notable achievements is the complete elimination of lubricants in some of the new finishing operations, making the process 100% ecological and minimizing the environmental impact.
