Historic edition with a record number of applications for the TFG–TFM MONDRAGON Sariak 2025 Awards

The 4th edition of the TFG–TFM MONDRAGON Sariak 2025 Awards has set a new milestone! This year, we reached a record participation with 340 applications submitted by universities from across the country, consolidating this initiative as one of the key spaces for promoting young talent.

The event, held in Bilbao as part of Inpaktuday 2025, brought together 57 finalists and 47 professionals from MONDRAGON cooperatives, in a gathering designed to build a real bridge between the academic and business worlds.

The day was conceived as a space for inspiration and connection. Throughout the event, finalists had the opportunity to:

• Learn first-hand about MONDRAGON’s cooperative culture.
• Take part in group dynamics led by professionals from Danobat Group, MONDRAGON Corporation, Fagor Taldea, Laboral Kutxa, EIKA, Ikerlan and MONDRAGON Health.
• Share experiences, concerns and visions with other young people eager to transform the future through innovation.

The afternoon reserved the most exciting moment: the awards ceremony, where 10 outstanding projects were recognised in key areas such as digital transformation, purpose-driven finance, health and care, energy–climate transformation and social-impact innovation.

2025 Award-Winning Projects

Danobatgroup Award for Digital Transformation: Artificial Intelligence, automation and robotics

• 1st Prize: Jorge Arboleda Álvarez – AI for the Generation and Modification of Robotic Environments (École Nationale Supérieure de Mécanique et des Microtechniques).
• 2nd Prize: Unai Mintegui del Olmo – Implementation of a Vendor Agnostic Multi-Robot Welding Cell Using ROS2 (Mondragon Unibertsitatea).

MONDRAGON Award for People-Centred Transformation: Talent, diversity and inclusion

• 1st Prize: Jorge Castillo Gutiérrez – Creación de una línea de negocio de carácter escalable en dmillennial rural projects y creación de impacto en el medio rural riojano (Mondragon Unibertsitatea).
• 2nd Prize: Antonio Lara Morcillo – Del estudio de arquitectura al ecosistema cooperativo: Amasce.coop como modelo vivo de transformación socioempresarial (Mondragon Unibertsitatea).

Fagor Taldea Award for Energy–Climate Transformation: Decarbonisation, circular economy and climate neutrality

• 1st Prize: Danel Madrazo Unanue – Transferentzia bidezko ikaskuntza tekniketan oinarritutako sodio-ioi baterien egoera-algoritmoak (Mondragon Unibertsitatea).
• 2nd Prize:Lander Gómez de la Cruz – Análisis y optimización bio-hidrodinámica mediante CFD de humedales artificiales para el control, tratamiento y reutilización de escorrentía urbana (Universidad del País Vasco / Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea).

MONDRAGON Health Award for Health and Care Transformation: Health, social and healthcare services, and biotechnology

• 1st Prize: Javier Abasolo Esteban – Desarrollo de Biorreactores para Producción de Biofármacos Personalizados (Mondragon Unibertsitatea).
• 2nd Prize: Ana Vázquez Palomo – Modelo numérico del desarrollo del daño cerebral en la enfermedad de Alzheimer (Universidad de Oviedo).

Laboral Kutxa Award for Finance that Transforms Society

• 1st Prize: Pilar Clares Cervantes – Integración de autenticación multifactor como capa de seguridad en contratos multifirma sobre blockchain (Universidad Politécnica de Valencia).
• 2nd Prize: Luxi Zhou – Impacto de la Volatilidad del Mercado Inmobiliario en la Hipoteca Inversa (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid).

IKERLAN Award for the Most Innovative Project

• Unique prize: Unai Laskurain Lauzirika – Ikasketa federatu bertikalean ekarpenen kalkulurako pribatutasuna zaintzeko metodo baten garapena (Mondragon Unibertsitatea).

EIKA Award for the Best Project in Basque

• Unique prize: Irune Palacios Orueta – Euskarazko Medikuntzaren Domeinuko Lehenengo Corpus Sintetikoaren Sorrera: Metodologia eta Hastapenak (Universidad del País Vasco / Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea).

Mundukide Award for the Project with the Greatest Social Impact: Leaving no one behind

• Single prize: Eugenia Ortega Cueto – Diseño de encaje de prótesis modular de miembro superior para zonas en vías de desarrollo (Universidad de Deusto).
